Introducing Holistic Physicians
Chiro-Technology Spinal Health Center
by Walter P. Kittle, DC, CCSP, NASM, CPT
Dr. Walter P. Kittle
As a small child, I knew that God had given me a purpose to help others. It was this purpose that led me to expand on my training as a chiropractic physician and develop a comprehensive multi-therapy approach to spinal health. This approach is so expanded that I later coined the term “Chiro-Technology” to distinguish it from other chiropractic only practices. Through chiropractic alone, I saw many miraculous cures in my first year of practice. Despite this success, however, I knew I could do much more for my patients.
The first problem I addressed was the differences between individual patients and the conditions they were suffering from. A “cookie cutter” approach, like I was taught in chiropractic school, simply was not adequate. To remedy this, I began an exhaustive study of numerous spinal treatment methods from around the world. This included not only chiropractic but also many other disciplines, such as the osteopathic profession.
• Breakthrough: By matching multiple spinal treatment methods to the specific patient and condition, I could get outstanding results on virtually every case.
The second problem I addressed was speed of recovery. Why would a patient leave my office feeling great only to return with a tight and misaligned spine? The answer was found in the muscles attaching to the vertebrae. Muscle spasms in the spine, especially in a recent injury, pulled the spine back out of alignment and caused the joint to once again become tight. To remedy this, muscle relaxation techniques from massage and acupressure were incorporated.
•Breakthrough: With a combination of muscle relaxation and spinal therapy patients recovered up to 50 percent faster than with spinal therapy alone.
The final problem I addressed was the high incidence of flare up and re-injury in the chronic condition. A chronic condition is one where the patient continues to have problems for months or even years after the original injury is “healed.” In this case the muscles have become weak and unbalanced, causing an inability to stabilize the spine. To address this, I completed a one-year post-graduate course in spinal rehabilitation, became a certified chiropractic sports physician and received a degree in sports and fitness training.
•Breakthrough: With the use of specific muscle rehabilitation even chronic cases can regain stability, therefore, greatly reducing episodes of re-injury.
Today, Chiro-Technology employs a 10 person staff including two chiropractic physicians, three massage therapists, and an exercise specialist.
