Kathleen owns and operates the wonderful Bookstore, Ascension Star and has her own office and practice in the adjoining suite. While she appears quiet, soft spoken, and very beautiful, she radiates a warm smile that invites you into the store. This gentle lady behind the counter is so very knowledgeable about the healing arts. Kathleen has earned several degrees and certificates.

Previously, she worked and retired as a Social Worker for the State of Michigan. In addition, she gained certification in Reiki Master Level, Therapeutic Touch, Esoteric Healing, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapy, and Reflexology. She also does Akasha Record Readings that defines one’s life purpose based on their energy and imprints since birth.

Kathleen began using Reiki on herself when she met a diagnosis of stomach cancer. Not only did she balance her own body and became well, but she decided to help others. She explained that “healers, like herself, balance a person in a certain way; then the body responds. This balance helps the person to access that inner healing”. She has worked with patients who have had several illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, cancer, spinal damage, and many other diagnoses. Using her other modalities, she explained that some people find relief for their stress and anxiety by using her techniques. Others have used the techniques to prepare themselves for upcoming surgeries. She has countless stories where her techniques have created positive outcomes for her clients.

Kathleen co-designed the store, Ascension Star, with her friend, Carolyn Smith-Adams, so that customers coming in to browse would feel a relaxed and calm atmosphere. Their Bookstore offers new and used books, and gifts on a wide range of topics from spirituality, nutrition and health, to Native American healing practices. The store sparkles with gemstones and Swarovski crystal jewelry. The candles offer an aromatherapy of scents as soft music plays in the background. Kathleen contends that the store is her personal anchor for a safe haven of peace, as she relaxes and meditates in one of the soft chairs.
